East Meets West

East Meets West
… in New York City

NOTE: I was asked to do the photography for the visits of the Karmapa and Khyentse Rinpoche. Some of my photos are included here.

His Holiness the 16th Karmapa’s First Visit to the West
The Karmapa, of whatever incarnation, is the head of the Kägyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.

“On September 18, 1974, His Holiness the Gyalwa Karmapa was received at New York’s Kennedy Airport by Chögyam Trungpa, Rinpoche. Trungpa Rinpoche held the traditional sticks of burning incense and his students presented garlands of flowers. His Holiness responded with an American-syle handshake.”
